No next gen is a different version of the game and so no cross play, only you tin even so play the final gen version of the game on next gen consoles

Im not sure about other game modes but I just played my friend (he has ps5 and I have ps4) in online head2head

How did yous practise this? When I am on my PS5 but playing the ps4 version of the game my friends to receive invites and I don't receive invites that they send to me.

he prob had madden 21 for ps4.. then got a ps5 and just downloaded it.. which would still be the ps4 version upscaled
